HISTORY

Bisbee, located 90 miles southeast of Tucson in the beautiful Mule mountains, awaits your discovery. Founded in 1880, Bisbee's rich mineral deposits had transformed the small mining town by the early 1900's into the largest city between St. Louis and San Francisco. The huge open pit mines are still quite a sight to see.

The mines have since shut down and Bisbee has evolved into a small (pop. 6000) artist and retirement community catering to tourism. Bisbee's diversity, shops, galleries, temperate climate and rural setting make it an ideal location for many activities, including birding, hiking, cycling, shopping and just kick'n back.

Come enjoy Bisbee!

OTHER ATTRACTIONS

Bisbee is central to many other attractions located throughout Southeast Arizona. The legendary town of Tombstone, site of the West's most famous gunfight, is only 25 minutes away to the North. The large metropolitan area of Tucson is only 2 hours away if you are looking for shopping and big city excitement.

For hiking and other outdoor activities, the Chiracahua mountains with the famous "Wonderland of Rocks" lies to the east, Cochise Stronghold lies to the North, Coronado National Forest to the west, and the famous Kartchner Caverns (with it's wide variety of cave formations) is less than an hour away to the northwest.
